Go to the TI Connect Software page (see Resources).

Locate the “Download TI Connect” section, and select “TI Connect for Mac” from the drop-down box.

Click the “TI Connect for Macintosh (English)” link under “Download item” on the new page that launches. When prompted, sign in to your Texas Instruments account. Click “Continue as guest” if you want to download the software without creating an account. After the file downloads, double-click it to run the installer. Follow the guided prompts on the installer to complete the software installation.

Connect your TI-83 calculator to your Mac using a USB connectivity cable. If you don’t have a connectivity cable, check the Texas Instruments website for the compatible cable (see Resources).

Launch the TI Connect Software from the dock (if you added it there) or the “Applications” folder. Once launched, your software automatically detects your calculator. Select the tasks you want to perform. For example, select the “Explorer” option if you want to view files on your calculator.

1. Double click on the downloaded ZIP archive to uncompress it.
2. Drag and drop the uncompressed app file into your Applications folder.

NOTE: when you try to run the Emulator for the first time, you may receive a warning that the app is not recognized by Apple. Go to System Preferences > Security > General and click on Open Anyway to bypass the unnecessary warning

STEP 3 – Download the Calculator ROM

The next step is to download the ROM, the virtual copy of the device. A ROM (Read-Only Memory file) is a package, much like a firmware which contains all the files needed to emulate the device. Here you can download the ROM for a popular graphics calculator used in math and science classes.

Click on the ROM file to download it. It’s best to keep this file in a good location so you can find it easily in the future.

STEP 4 – Run the TI 84 Graphics Calculator on your Laptop
